NEA MADAGASCAR COMMITS TO TECHNICAL TRAINING FOR WOMEN

After six months of support, the graduation ceremony for the 10 scholarship recipients of NEA’s Phare 2022 project took place this Friday, February 10, 2023, in Antananarivo. The project, with a direct positive impact, aims to promote inclusion and gender diversity in Madagascar’s technical sector.

The Phare project is a program run by NEA, an entity of the pan-African AXIAN group, specifically designed for young female multi-skilled technicians from various regions of Madagascar to develop the skills needed for their professional careers, with the aim of breaking down stereotypes and setting an example within the private sector. The 10 beneficiary multi-skilled technicians spent 3 months of theoretical training at AXIAN UNIVERSITY, the AXIAN group’s corporate university, and 3 months of practical training on NEA Madagascar projects in their respective regions. Nine of them were directly hired at the end of the program.

The Phare project was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training, the trainers, and the entire NEA Madagascar team. It also benefited from the special support of Amin HIRIDJEE, CEO of the AXIAN group, Loïc HOINVILLE, CEO of NEA Madagascar, and Véronique PERDIGON, Secretary General of the AXIAN Energy division, who initiated this project, which highlighted Malagasy women technicians.

ABOUT THE NEA 2022 FLAGSHIP PROJECT

The project involves awarding scholarships to 10 female candidates who already have a technical background to complete their training and become multi-skilled technicians. The goal is to improve gender parity in NEA Madagascar’s technical workforce. This is a new recruitment method to meet the needs of technical teams and to put into practice the diversity of skills and behavioral practices within the framework of our interventions (more rigor, less fraud).
